POTUS: “It’s Time to Reform Our Criminal Justice System”

In his weekly address via YouTube, President Obama called for criminal justice reform. Key highlights from the clip were his interest in disrupting the school to prison pipeline, his visits across the country speaking with people in prison, police officers, students and community members and his interest in lessening punishment for non-violent offenses.

“…today there are 2.2 million people behind bars in America and millions more on parole or probation. Every year we spend 80 billion in taxpayer dollars to keep people incarcerated…”
