Program Description:The UO Prison Education Program offers Inside-Out courses in the Oregon State Penitentiary and the Oregon State Correctional Institution, and a blend of traditional, independent study, and readings courses in those facilities and two additional institutions. The PEP also offers common readings, academic seminars, speakers, and advising in our prisons. The program does regular book drives to provide prisons with course texts and other books in English and Spanish. On campus and in the community program interns and past participants are engaged in youth mentoring in juvenile justice facilities and facilitate workshops for at- risk youth.
